Physiological changes of three woody plants exposed to progressive salt stress

چکیده

The saline character of water imposes restrictions on plant growth and survival in the Taklamakan Desert, China. Experiments were conducted woody species, Tamarix ramosissima, Populus euphratica, Haloxylon ammodendron grown under different levels salinity to elucidate their adaptation a environment. H. accumulated large amounts Na+ Cl- leaves. P. euphratica restricted redundant transport shoots treated with lower NaCl concentrations. leaves T. ramosissima significantly only higher concentrations (≥ 200 mM NaCl). analyzed plants' exposure high induced oxidative stress as evidenced by increase H2O2 malondialdehyde changes photosynthetic pigments, gas-exchange characteristics, antioxidant enzyme activities. exhibited greater ability adapt saline-induced due more efficient system prevent damage.
